Mums Makeover

With five children under nine years old, Sandra Kanitz of Albion Park does not get much time to pamper herself.
So when her eldest daughter Amanda wrote in and told Life & Style that her mum deserved to win the mother's day prize package - we agreed.
To celebrate Mother's Day we sent Mrs Kanitz off for a day of pampering followed by an evening of fine dining at the Harbour Front Restaurant.
First stop was The Chelsea Hair & Beauty Group in Globe Lane, Wollongong, for a relaxing aromatherapy facial and manicure before a professional cut and colour and stunning makeover.
Stylist Peter Thomsen and makeup artist Sylvia Picciolo, who team up regularly do the hair and makeup for Life & Style fashion shoots, gave Mrs Kanitz a great new look.
``Sandra's hair had a lot of different colours through it so I evened out the colour using a combination of copper and chestnut to give a lovely soft brown coppery colour," Mr Thomsen said, ``I then sliced some honey gold colour through the top. I chose these colours to complement her skin tone and beautiful hazel eyes."
Mr Thomsen said as Mrs Kanitz did not want to lose too much length, he softly layered her hair to add fullness and movement and introduced a fringe to soften and frame the face.
Ms Picciolo then went to work choosing a palette of autumnal shades to match Mrs Kanitz's colouring.
After her makeover, Mrs Kanitz was whisked off to Grace Bros in Crown Central to choose her new outfit.
She decided upon an outfit by Stitches, an elegant label that prides itself on exacting style, quality and fit. Using high quality fabrics with careful attention to detail and finishing, the range is available in sizes 10-18.
Once her transformation was complete, Mrs Kanitz was joined by her husband, Roger, five children and her mother for dinner at The Harbour Front Seafood Restaurant in Wollongong.
``With five kids you don't often have the time or money to pamper yourself so it was wonderful to win the prize package," Mrs Kanitz said.
``I was really happy with my makeover, my new outfit and the whole family were able to celebrate with me at dinner.
``I'd like to thank all those who were involved to make my day special and I also thank my daughter, Amanda, who made it possible."
